Did you know that a Gallup survey found that only 46 percent of B2B customers strongly believe that their suppliers always deliver on promises?  Consider the type of company you want to do business with… I’ll bet it’s a company that does what they say they’re going to do, and follows through on their promises.  Here’s 5 reasons why delivering on customer promises matters:

  1. Create credibility

Customers have more choices than ever before about which companies get their business. They’re savvy enough to know when they hear a promise that sounds too good to be true. To build credibility, stay true to your word, be ethical, honest and promise only what you can deliver.

  1. Create trust

People buy from companies they like and trust. When customers trust a business, they’ll come back again and again. And if you can’t deliver on a promise, own up to it, apologize and make it up to your customer in a meaningful way. Accountability is what builds trust that endures.

  1. Build momentum to do more to drive sales for your customer

Trustworthy companies put customers at ease, because they know you have their best interests at heart.  When you suggest another service or ask to be considered for a bigger project, the customer knows they can count on you. Those customer promises kept can help pave the way for more sales, revenue and profitability.

  1. Validates your core values as a person and for your company

At T-ROC, one of our core values is “Make honesty and integrity win every time.” That’s what I love about our company and our leadership… that those core values are woven into how we treat our customers and each other.

  1. Gives one motivation to do the same for other companies

Throughout my career, I’ve had the chance to work for companies who also understood and cared deeply about keeping promises to customers. I learned early on that a company’s ability to keep its promises to customers was directly linked to its reputation and brand image. And once you learn it, you carry it with you to the next company, and one after that, too!

  1. Gives us a purpose at work that is beyond fulfilling

Doing great work that delivers what you promised just feels good! Being able to live your values and be your authentic self at work makes everything you do more meaningful… and isn’t that what everyone wants?
