THE CLIENT

Samsung, a global consumer electronics brand and the world's number one mobile company, launched its Samsung Experience Stores to engage customers in an interactive and fun retail environment. Here, customers experience and purchase the latest generation of Samsung technology, including Galaxy smartphones, tablets, wearables, TVs, audio, smart home devices, and laptops. Stores are built around a tech playground concept, with immersive 4K gaming lounge and 4D VR technology, plus in-person demos from Samsung experts, and walk-in repairs for mobile devices.

THE REQUEST

Samsung is a manufacturing giant but had never operated its own stores in the U.S. Instead, it relied on partners like carriers and big box retailers to sell their products. So for this launch, Samsung turned to retail experts T-ROC to launch its three new Samsung Experience Stores located in Los Angeles, Houston, and New York. The challenge was the timeline just 90 days from start to Grand Opening.

THE T-ROC SOLUTION

In just 90 days, T-ROC created a playbook for a successful launch. The retail team leveraged their expertise and powerful network to hire, train, staff, launch and operate three flagship stores.

Here’s what T-ROC was able to achieve:

Hired & trained 175 people including 15 members of management in 8 weeks, including sales, service repairs and back-of-house personnel.
Established business rules and launched the point-of-sale system in 6 weeks.
Merchandised three stores ranging in size from 6,500 to 11,000 square feet.
Sourced, planned, bought and inventoried over 300 SKUs at launch.
Identified, developed, wrote and trained over 150 Standard Operating Procedures to establish controls and rhythms in 90 days.
Engaged, contracted and sold services supporting multiple wireless carriers (AT&T, VZW, and Sprint) within 6 weeks.

THE RESULT

In addition to the launch and successful rollout of three Samsung Experience Stores, T-ROC was able to deliver impressive sales & customer satisfaction numbers:

$2 million in sales in the first 45 days
Sales of added value elements including Wireless Accessories @ 2.5 Attach Rate and Premium Care Services @ +50%
