THE CLIENT

ecoATM offers ATM-like kiosks in high-traffic retail locations. It allows consumers to bring their old phones, MP3 players, and tablets in for an exchange with on-the spot payment. Electronics are then recycled responsibly while customers earning extra cash that they can then spend in retail locations, if desired.

THE REQUEST

ecoATM approached T-ROC for an In-Store Representative test pilot program. The goal, to increase awareness and kiosk usage in 3 markets (Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, Philadelphia, Raleigh Durham) meanwhile, ecoATM would compare the markets against similar markets without an ISR to see how effective a T-ROC ISR in the market can be.

Other expectations include optimizing retail environments, ensuring kiosks are in proper working order, on site promo events and informing store employees of the benefits of the kiosk and training them on the details.

THE RESULTS

With consistent efforts and education, T-ROC was able to give ecoATM the lift they were looking for.

About 50% of customer interactions were those learning about ecoATM for the first time - a huge boost in new customer awareness.
40% of customers indicated they would return to the kiosk the next time they had devices to recycle.
Almost all locations saw an increase in device drop-offs, with some locations seeing as high as double or even triple the number of devices turned in.

THE T-ROC SOLUTION

With only one dedicated account leader and 5 total ISRs across the other three markets T-ROC executed:

189 total events in Miami, Fayetteville, Raleigh/Durham, and three Philadelphia regions
An average of 20 interactions per event for nearly 3,725 new impressions
805 total visits across active participating retailers
Approximately 6,000 total customer interactions

And that’s just what T-ROC did for customers. On the back end, T-ROC ISRs also:

Leveraged our existing network of Sales Agents, Brand Ambassadors, etc. to gain additional brand awareness
Expanded ecoATM awareness by networking with other T-ROC operators
Provided management guidance at the store level
Organized and implemented employee incentive programs (10% added cash on exchanges) for additional buy-in
Lunch-and-learn events
Candy buck-slip gifts
Local networking with businesses in close proximity to kiosk locations with promo code incentives for 10% additional cash
Grassroots marketing to nearby pre-paidwireless stores to offer 20% off to ecoATMcustomers
